This gallery shows 18th century original copper plate engravings of Raphael Sanzio's murals in the Vatican Loggie. These engravings were commissioned by Pope Clement XIV who recognized the importance of making a permanent record of the beautiful and delicate frescoes painted in the Vatican Loggie by Raphael Sanzio in the 16th century. The engravers commissioned by the Pope to preserve these frescoes for posterity included well known Italian master engravers Johan Ottaviani, Joannes Volpato, Alex Mochetti and others.
