Audubon Octavo First Edition Bird Prints
This Gallery displays some fine hand-colored stone lithographs from the 1st Edition of the Royal Octavo Birds of America by John James Audubon. The first edition was printed during 1840 - 1844 period. The Audubon family utilized Camera Lucida to reduce the double elephant folio Havell edition bird images to the smaller Octavo size (about 10" x 6 1/2").
